Veronika Kusz (*1980), musicologist; senior research fellow at the Hungarian Institute for Musicology (HUN-REN RCH Institute for Musicology), lecturer at the Budapest Liszt Academy of Music. She studied musicology at the Liszt Academy, she defended her PhD dissertation in 2010. She was a Fulbright “visiting scholar” in 2005/06 conducting researches in the American Dohnányi Estate in Tallahassee, Fl.

She is the author of the monograph A Wayfaring Stranger: Ernst von Dohnányi’s American Years (1949−1960) published by the University of California Press in 2020, and co-editor (with James A. Grymes) of the volume The Last Romantic in His Own Words published by the Oxford University Press in 2024.

She also published several monographs and editions in Hungarian: Járdányi Pál (2003/2016), Dohnányi amerikai évei [Dohnányi’s American years] (2015), Dohnányi Ernő: Válogatott írások és nyilatkozatok [Selected writings and interviews] (2020), Mesterem emlékének. Vázsonyi Bálint és az első Dohnányi-monográfia [To the memory of my master. Bálint Vázsonyi and the first monograph on Dohnányi] (2022). She attended several international conferences, and has published articles in international journals such American Music or Notes.

She is currently working on the edition of Ernst von Dohnányi’s letters and Leó Weiner’s writings. She has been research fellow of the Institute for Musicology since 2002.
